BPA Funding

BPA: Habitat Restoration Projects
Bonneville Power Administration allocates funds for habitat enhancement/restoration projects as part of its mitigation efforts for effects of the Columbia River dam system on anadromous fish and some resident species.
Project types include (but are not limited to)
irrigation system upgrades, riparian fencing, culverts, and instream habitat improvement projects.  The focus is generally on waterways with anadromous (ocean-going) fish species.

BPA contracts with local entities (e.g., Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Irrigation Districts, Counties, States and Native American Tribes, etc.) within each subbasin to mitigate for these losses.
Here is the link to the proposals (recommended by the Northwest Power Planning Council) likely to get funding during 2007 to 2009. http://www.nwcouncil.org/fw/budget/2007/draftrec/province.xls

Determine if there are BPA contractors who may be doing habitat work in your area. The subbasin is in column E.
Funding recommendation is in column N. If the recommendation is not zero, they are likely to be funded.
Write down any applicable proposal numbers.

You may find the proposal here. http://www.cbfwa.org/projects/default.asp .
Open the proposals, which include contact information for BPA contractors to determine if your project may qualify for funding.
