The Calapooia Watershed Council meets the second Wednsday of every month at 7:00pm in Browsville.

The Calapooia Watershed Council is very excited about the impending removal of the Sodom and Shearer Dams, which will be completed by the fall of 2011. The Council is working with Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, the local grass seed community, and numerous state and federal stakeholder agencies including the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, to provide fish passage on the Calapooia River by removing the last two fish passage barrier dams in the system. The Calapooia basin, located in the Mid-Willamette Valley, is home to winter steelhead and spring Chinook, both listed as threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. These last two dam removals will compliment existing water quality and in-stream habitat enhancement projects being implemented throughout the basin in partnership with private landowners and the local timber industry.
