Almost the entire Elk Creek Watershed is high intrinsic potential coho habitat, and restoring this habitat has been the focus of the Elk Creek Watershed Council.  This year (2010) we completed four instream projects that placed nearly 300 logs and 600 large boulders that restored more than three miles of coho habitat on private and BLM lands.  A large concrete bridge replaced two perched culverts that we blocking fish passage, and two other culverts were removed entirely.  Two secondary channels were constructed to provide off-channel winter habitat for juvenile coho, and riparian planting is scheduled on all projects for this winter.
