Education is paramount to Lake County’s watershed program.  2006 brought two new opportunities to students of all ages.  In the spring, Lake County coordinators focused on incorporating a new education program into the county with the introduction of the Weeds and Watersheds Roundup for elementary students.  Over two hundred students and four schools participated in eight hands on sessions where students had the opportunity to get their hands wet and learn how to link our vast natural resources to our watersheds.   Late summer brought the National Riparian Team to the county for a dynamic three day event where they offered their expertise to three restoration projects county wide. The team brought a wide variety of individuals together to walk creeks and evaluate function and vegetation.  In the future, community strength will be gained as watershed efforts and enthusiasm grow in Lake County.
