The Council meets every second Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Columbia County Extension in St. Helens, 505 North Columbia Highway.
The Lower Columbia River Watershed Council provided project permitting and coordination services at 16 project sites that were part of the Emergency Watershed Protection program sponsored by USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. They worked with many partners implementing stream restoration along 15,000 feet of stream. Over 27,000 plantings were installed. Riffles, pools and fish habitat were created with 240 pieces of large wood and 90 boulders. 46 landowners provided 233 hours of volunteer time. Local contractors were employed for implementation and the cost of the projects was $1,386,667. News articles highlighted the projects which raised the profile of the LCRWC and the Columbia Soil and Water Conservation District. This successful effort was a boost to landowners, the local economy and to stream health in our watershed.
