The Council meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30pm.
The riparian enhancement work at the Springfield Country Club (SCC) began in the summer of 2009 and builds upon several years of previous riparian enhancement work in the lower Mohawk River basin. The SCC Project focused on controlling Armenian blackberry and other invasive species and reestablishing native plants on over 6 acres of floodplain habitat along the lower Mohawk River. The Council, SCC personnel, partnering local contractors and volunteers have worked together to control invasive vegetation and plant over 2000 native trees and shrubs at the site. Volunteer efforts have been highlighted by a dedicated group of 6-7 neighbors and local volunteers who have spearheaded irrigation efforts over the summer of 2010. Collectively the volunteers have spent between 20 and 30 hours watering every other week using portable tank and pump on loan from the Country Club. The site serves as a great example of successful partnerships between the Council, local landowners and the public working together to improve fish and wildlife habitat and make a difference locally.
