The council meets the second Thursday of every month at 3pm at the OSU Central Oregon Research Station in Madras.
A Constructed Wetland System created by the Middle Deschutes Watershed Council helps control nutrients and sediment along Trout and Willow Creeks. The system utilizes wetland plants and microbes to assimilate and break down excess nutrients and remove them from irrigation wastewater. Seedlings from native riparian plants were taken, grown, and then harvested in the fall by the Madras Transition Students. The harvested plants were planted along Trout Creek. Paul Kay from Rogue Water designed and constructed the floating garden. Local 4-H students have used the pond located at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds as a tool to learn about aquatic bugs.
Volunteers harvest riparian plants to help create a constructed wetland on Trout and Willow Creeks.

The Council meets on the second Thursday of each month at 3pm in the National Grasslands Office in Madras.
The Willow Creek Watershed Council partnered with Madras High School students and the Bureau of Land management to clean up an old dump site along a scenic trail along Willow Creek where people continue to illegally dump trash. The two day project removed seven tons of garbage from the area. Several local businesses donated food and water for the volunteers. Next year the Council plans to partner again with Madras High School and BLM and plans to partner with Jefferson County and other local businesses and individuals to continue the clean-up of this area.
