Reaches of lower Willow Creek upstream from the city of Madras are deeply incised, eroding, and disconnected from any functioning floodplain.  During flood events, high flows exit the canyon and are channeled through a system that does little to absorb the excess flow and sediment.  Much of the area of concern is completely devoid of riparian vegetation.  This project will address over a mile of stream channel renovation---the first phase will be a design for shaping banks and planting a riparian buffer consisting of trees, shrubs, and perennial grasses.
